Will we be contacted by aliens this year? Will there be devastation and cataclysm? What will happen in this ultimate year, the final one on the Mayan calendar? We’ll have disasters galore around the Summer Solstice along with many films depicting worse scenarios so that what happens to us seems a pale imitation by comparison. Flooding and drought will predominate the decade as happened in the 30’s under a similar Uranus square Pluto. It was also the rise of fascist dictators as in the current economic circumstances we need to be vigilant to prevent it from sucking us into another form of control. Monopoly capitalism is corporate mastery of the economy, subjugating us to their whims and subordinating us to their policies while regulators are strapped by underfunding. Almost a century ago, corporations were unfettered by regulatory constraints and employed children and virtually enslaved men and women in sweatshops, factories and mines until labor unions began changing the tide and times. Again, in the 30’s, things changed thanks to greater power and the increasing scope of unions. Then as now, powerful corporations exerted influence on government to do their bidding to keep competition at bay. Prominent among the many cases of unfair and undue influence is in the passing of the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937 that essentially made growing hemp of any sort illegal, despite the respite on the law during WWII. Propaganda against pot was funded by a cabal of industrial giants that recognized a threat to their survival if cannabis were to remain legal; alcohol, tobacco, cotton, oil and wood pulp paper (used for newsprint, which motivated William Randolph Hearst), just for starters. Prohibition didn’t work with alcohol as it gave rise to the Mafia and violence associated with gangs for the same reasons prohibition of weed, LSD, heroin and speed hasn’t worked. Too many people do it to stop them all and too many gangs have arisen to fill the needs of the many. The so-called War on Drugs has been a bust from its inception, costing billions of wasted taxpayer money in a treadmill of bureaucratic bullshit making a few people wealthier and destroying multiple Third World nations trapped in a cycle of barbaric drug feuds murdering millions of innocents over control of the trade through the past four decades. It’s time to end the prohibition on hemp! Check out what the savior of the union said.
