Crazy World

End of the year wrap-ups are common in the media, whether it’s TV, internet, newspapers or magazines, whatever other venue regularly communicates to the public information and entertainment. Thus it’s not necessary for me to do the same but I can sum up 2011 with one simple phrase; the people have arisen! From the Arab Spring to the American Autumn and the European reaction to austerity, the masses have gathered to protest the economic injustice long in the making but acute in its effects at this time. Lest ye remember too much from the past and not enough from the present, there are many hot spots in the world that are itching for change but the way of life is so deeply ingrained in the system that rigid adherence to old ways prevent adaptation to the current situation of economic necessity. As a result of the cascading economic erosion of the European Union, which could lead to the dissolution of the union and abandonment of the Euro, with nations reverting to the own currency, people are nervous. However, the haves would own the have-nots, like Greece and Italy, recently having dumped their old leaders for new ones who were banksters and now Germany and France are holding all the Aces, Kings and Queens.
Southwestern Asia and the Indian subcontinent are a sweltering tempest in a teapot with the Pakistani government in disarray having their leader off recuperating from surgery while the nation is as sick as a dog and Pakis are not fond of dogs. India and Pakistan have been at each other’s throats since they were created almost simultaneously as nations after the British left in 1947, both countries having Leo Sun as the remnant of the dictatorship of Imperial government. India’s problems are more than just overpopulation, illiteracy, poverty and corruption while there’s a hoard of international corporations salivating to tap into the vast market they represent. There are also environmental problems from over-industrialization and poor government oversight or regulations being enforced.
On the other side of the Himalayan Mountains, China’s housing bubble is bursting as millions of empty houses stand unoccupied while millions of families are unable to afford them. Add to that the ire of those who bought their homes at full price only to see new sales of neighboring units at slashed prices to entice new buyers and you have lots of angry people. Topping it off in an Asian trifecta, Russia is revolting over the recent stolen election by Putin’s band of thieves and criminals. More on that as events play out. With all that, the planet is still hanging on although many people would like to jump off.
